We use your details only to arrange your charter, keep you informed and run our business. This page explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and your rights.

1. Who we are
IBOAT MALTA ("iBoat Malta", "we") is the data controller for personal data collected through iboatmalta.com, WhatsApp, email, phone and social media. Address: 74 Indri Vella Street, Pembroke PBK 1314, Malta. VAT no. MT 23053034. Contact: info@iboatmalta.com, +356 7783 6902.
2. What we collect
- Enquiry and booking details: your name, email, phone or WhatsApp number, charter date and times, number of guests, pick-up point and any requests you send us.
- Information you choose to share for safety: for example a medical condition, pregnancy or reduced mobility, used only to keep you safe on board.
- Payment records: amounts, dates and payment method for deposits and balances. We do not store card numbers; card and PayPal payments are handled by the payment provider.
- Website data: pages visited, device and browser information, and cookies, as set out in section 8.
3. Why we use it and our legal basis
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Answering your enquiry and sending quotes | Steps you asked for before a contract |
| Booking your charter, invoices, passing your details to the yacht operator and skipper | Performance of our contract with you |
| Health or mobility information you volunteer | Your explicit consent, which you can withdraw |
| Accounting and tax records | Legal obligation under Maltese law |
| Asking past clients for a review and sending occasional offers on similar charters | Our legitimate interest, with an easy opt-out in every message |
| Sending our monthly newsletter, The iBoat Log, if you subscribe | Your consent, given when you sign up and confirm by email. You can unsubscribe at any time |
| Website analytics and advertising cookies | Your consent through our cookie banner |
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We share only what each party needs:
- Yacht operators, skippers and crew who run your charter: your name, phone number, group size, date, times and pick-up point.
- Payment providers: APS Bank and PayPal, to process payments.
- IT and software providers that host our website and email or help us manage bookings, such as Google, Bluehost and Cloudflare.
- Newsletter delivery: if you subscribe, your email address is held by Automattic (WordPress.com / Jetpack), which sends the newsletter for us.
- Analytics and advertising providers such as Google Analytics and Meta, only if you accept those cookies.
- Our accountant and public authorities when the law requires it.
5. Transfers outside the EU
Some of our providers store data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by an EU adequacy decision, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that did not become a booking | 12 months |
| Booking records and invoices | As long as Maltese tax and accounting law requires, up to 10 years |
| Contact details for reviews and offers | 5 years after your last charter, or until you opt out |
| Newsletter email address | Until you unsubscribe |
| Health information you shared | Deleted after your charter |
7. Reviews and offers
After your charter we may send you one message asking for a Google review, and occasionally an offer on charters similar to yours. Every message tells you how to stop them: reply STOP, or email info@iboatmalta.com, and we will not contact you again for these purposes.
8. Cookies
Our website uses essential cookies to work, and analytics and advertising cookies only if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link on the website, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
9. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to how we use it, or receive a copy to move it elsewhere. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email info@iboatmalta.com and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to Malta's Information and Data Protection Commissioner (IDPC) at idpc.org.mt.
10. Children
Bookings must be made by an adult. We only hold children's details, such as their age for life-jacket sizing, when a parent or guardian gives them to us.
11. Security
We keep your data in password-protected accounts with two-step sign-in where available, and share it only with the people who need it for your charter.
12. Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date at the top.
